we do not get disability checks. They believe that the medicine and therapy should help us to maintain a "normal" life. Thus the lack of financies for it. I don't technically disagree with this. You shouldn't worry about disability funding, you won't get it. But you should try to reach out and be as normal as you can be, by getting a job. We're bipolar, but that doesn't mean we choose to be different. If you are playing up the disorder, than you are not bipolar, you are a hypochondriac.

If you are looking for an easy way to live without working, this isn't the way to go. If your bipolar condition causes you to not be able to work, and is expected to last more than a year, and you can't work in any job, then you could apply. The journey takes about 2/1/2 yrs to complete, your initial applications will be refused, you will have to appeal, chances are they will shoot it down again, then you will likely need a lawyer to help you get through the legal stuff. Then, if you win, you get money from the time your disability stopped you from working. You also have to have enough credits in your working file to qualify, if not, I'm not sure where you could go from there. How much do you get? That's mostly dependent on age and how much you have worked, but regardless of that, it's not much. You will likely need to depend on others to help make your bills. Good luck.

To get disability, you need for a doctor to verify. He needs to say that you are disabled. I don't know but I'm thinking the a doctor would say that if you would take the necessary medicine, you would be able to work. I don't know but heard that with medicine taken as ordered, a bipolar person can function very well.

one day you might get a check and the next day you might not. we will never know because one day you might remember and the next day you might not know. This answer makes as much sense as your question.
