What do you call yours and where are you. I've recently heard them called daps in a school in the south west- I did not have a clue what the child was talking about until he explained to me!

I live in Suffolk and they are called Plimsolls here

Oh my, I don't think I can repeat what they were called when I was at school (I'm 22).
This is meant with no offence to anyone, I am simply stating what they were called when I was at school:
ni**er 99's
Apparently, because they were black and you could allegedly get them for 99p ???
I hated the things, and there was a big box of them in the PE hall, if you forgot your own trainers, you had to find a pair out of the box - you could guarantee that even if you found two the same size, they wouldn't actually be a matching pair!!
Never heard them called Daps, someone has said they thought it was a geordie term - I am a little south of there, I'm a smoggy, but I've never heard of it?

I'm from Wiltshire and although some people do call them plimsolls, they do tend to be called daps.

I live in W Yorkshire and we called them pumps at school. I always hated them though, they made you look really thick! Before designer trainers I always wanted white pumps rather than black, but couldn't have them until i could tie my shoelaces.......
I've heard them called daps among other things before...I thought it was a Geordie word.
