This has happened 3 times in the past 3 months or so but me and my girl will be sleeping at night and I wake up unable to move or talk. All 3 times I've seen someone standing at the foot of the bed, or last night, they were on me. I can never make out a face, and I'm well aware it's not a ghost or anything but during that time it feels like im terrified and I try to wake my girl up or call her name but i cant talk at all or roll over. When I tell her in the morning what happened she's told me her mom called it Kawi (Cow-wi). What the hell is going on? Is is Sleep Paralysis?

EVERYTHING YOU DESCRIBED IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENS TO ME!!!!
Sometimes it'll happen everynight for a while, then it'll go away. But yeah, I fall into this deep deep sleep and it takes so much energy for me to moan so that someone will wake me up. But you're right, you can't talk or move at all, but you can see stuff in your room. One time I fell into a deep sleep and I felt this fear come upon me and couldn't move or anything and I saw this little "ugly creature" sitting at the foot of my bed rocking back and forth. By this time I wanted to scream but I couldn't then I looked at my window and the blinds were open and I could see a shadow approaching then I really got scared. Like a few minutes later I was able to get enough energy to wake myself up. Another time that happened and something jumped on me and started pushing my chest real hard and I couldn't breath. Yes, it's very scary when you can't move and you want to yell out help but you can't.

Edit:
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention one thing: A couple of times I fell asleep and couldn't move or talk and I started floating upwards and one time I got up, walked into the bathroom and went to turn on the light and my hand kept going through the switch like I was transparent and then I walked into the living room and it was dark so I went back to my room and guess what? I saw my body laying in bed and I got on my bed and as soon as I did, I sat straight up. It was super scary! Alot of people call it sleep paralysis but I think it's something more spiritual. Oh yeah, my dad and brother have the same thing happen to them all the time.

When that happens to you, you can't move or talk but if you try hard enough, you can make a little noise with your throat - like a moan and hopefully your girlfriend will hear you and wake you up.

EDIT:
Oh yeah, one more thing, I'm a Christian and my parents told me to read Psalms 91 before I go to bed out loud and when I do, I never have those experiences.

I have experienced the same thing! All the research I have done calls it sleep paralysis, which indicates that your brain thinks it is awake when your body is still asleep and not receiving the signals to move and talk. However, I do not understand why everyone seems to see a figure in their room at the same time. There is a Scottish legend called being "hag ridden" which indicates that a Night Hag demon has visited you and is trying to smother you. My experience was that a woman was kneeling on me, her face in mine, stealing my breath. The question this raises to me is that if it is only the brain playing tricks, if I and others had never heard of the night hag before, how did we all see this figure and have it so tightly correspond to the legend?! I cannot explain it, nor has anyone else to my satisfaction. I do notice that it has a lot to do with my ability to breathe well. If you don't sleep on your back your breathing is much better, so try sleeping on your tummy to avoid this horrible sensation. I hope this helped you, and look forward to any responses you may have. Good luck, and good sleeping!
