I have auto pay every month from my checking to my insurance.Last week payment was due on Mon. but I couldn't put put money in my account until Thur. On Tues. I called the insurance company to tell them I'd be late on my payment, they told me it was already paid {i guess overdraft protection} So on Thurs. I went to the bank & put the payment in.I asked about it & the bank said they DIDN'T pay it. I called the Insur. again, they say they ARE paid. It's been a week and the insurance is still saying their paid.{since then I've spent most of the $$} This is a financed car, so I have to have total coverage.Well, my car was just stolen this morning while I was in work. I filed a police report, but I haven't called insurance, since the car might still be found. My question is, if the car is wrecked or not recovered, will insurance give me the $$$ if last months bill was paid late? Will they say i'm not covered during the days I was late or am I still covered since I wasn't canceled?

If I were you, I'd go ahead and send in an insurance payment. If you have to, send in one for the NEXT month. That way the insurance company can't use any kind of "Well...the insurance wasn't paid up...so we cancelled it" excuse if your car is not found.

An insurance company cannot claim that they have cancelled your policy due to non-payment unless they have provided something to you in writing. What I would do if I were you, is call again to reconfirm that payment, and write down the name and department of the person you spoke with. So in the event that it comes back to you, you can provide them with an employee who confirmed payment with you. You should also check if there is any employee id no.

Your insurance will cover the lost vehicle after 30 days of it having been missing.

My suggestion to YOU would be to pay that money or clear up any misunderstandings BEFORE the claims department needs to cut a check for that lost car.

Don't you dare cancel that insurance before the claim is settled.

I don't know who is your carrier, but my payments are the for the month coming up. If you paid the week before the accident you should still be covered.

They will pay if you were covered at the time of theft. You have to be more than one payment late before they cancel your coverage, and they let you know beforehand.
