Nobody "belongs to" a country in reality. But the expression is used as a colorful figure of speech. I have sometimes wondered when I would live if given a choice of the time to live in. I think I would enjoy being in Athens when Socrates was there. However I would like to take a few things with me such as some penicillin and an iPod.
