A relative of mine had a cat until it was 26.
FYI: The world record for the longest living cat is 34 years :)

I euthanized my 22 and 1/2 year old cat just after Thanksgiving. Her kidneys just couldn't support a good life for her anymore.
I currently have a rescue cat who will be seventeen this year. He was just recently diagnosed with a cancer in his jaw so depending on how fast that is liable to progress he will be 17 or not.
My next oldest cat will be fifteen this year and another will be fourteen.

mine is currently 13, but my grandmother had a cat who lived to 21. Another friend had 2 cats live to 18 years.
I have heard of cats living up to 30 years if well taken care of

I have a 22 year old Orange Tabby. He used to weigh over 30 lbs. But I had to leave for three months without him and he got sick mopping around the house waiting for me. He lost a lot of weight. My friend who was watching him said that it started after I left. Once I was back with him he stopped being sick. Now that we are together again, I'm still having a hard time getting him to gain weight. But "the old man" is going strong. I'll let you know when he give up the fight and turns in his claws.

The very 1st cat who owned me, a black DSH, a rescue when 3 weeks old, lived to 23! In later years I lifted him in and out of HIS rocking chair to go to eat and use the litter. He wasn't in pain, just too old to jump that far. His best feline friend, my 2nd lived to be 19, a Siamese who had attitude but would cuddle with the DSH in his rocking chair...unfortunately I ended up having to have them both put down. Ideally, he would have died in his rocker but when his quality of life became very low, I sadly took him to the Vet. The Vet (in his 70's) said "Think of this as your last gift to him." I remembered that when I had to put the other put down, 5 months later, because of her failing health. Out of interest sake, they never ate anything but "Purina Cat Chow", no expensive cat food...The black cat, while we were at work one day got into the catnip (out of an upper cabinet) and into my food colouring (same cupboard)...it was obvious who the culprit was when we got home, multi-coloured pawprints all over the house. The two of them knocked over the budgie cage one day while we were out. I, in a panic, went looking for the bird. There were the two of them, "guarding it" in the corner of the living room, still alive and well! I should add that they were both neutered young and mostly indoor cats, although the black one would go out in the yard and sleep under the bird feeder while the birds knocked seed on him from above. Both grew up with our kids, so we all missed them terribly. Were we just lucky? I don't know. Our terrier lived to be 18, when because his arthritis was too painful (he was also blind) I made that sad trip to the Vet. No matter how long a cat blesses you with their presence, I don't think anything could bring me more pleasure then a purring cat asleep in my arms...
No heaven will not ever Heaven be
Unless my cats are there to welcome me!
Good question! Should be interesting to see just how long a cat has lived!

Had a client with a 21 year old cat (and verified too as he had her since she was a kitten). And she did pretty well too up until the end. Cute little kitty.

My mom's cat was 21 or 22. I'm not sure of the exact age, but we had her since she was a kitten.
