I know that the bug dog is a mutt, but i didn't buy it from a puppy mill, i "did my research" as some say, i got this dog from a family member. they don't breed for profit, and i call it a breed cause every single dog out there was a mutt to begin with.... so i was just curious on how popular they are, damn...

I saw a bug in a pet store about a month ago. I'd never seen one before; it was kind of cute, but really expensive.

I just wanted to comment that current purebred dogs WERE achieved by creating mutts. The Irish Setter, for example, was created by mixing spanish pointers, setting spaniels, and early scottish setters.

I wanted to put this answer to your second question but you had already removed it. They are nick-named designer mutts, in reality that is the correct description for them. I own 2 designer mutts, that doesn't mean that you bought it from a puppy mill, there is a real market out there for them. Most people do not like the idea of designer mutts because there are so many dogs that are in need of a home and they are comparing the two, (if your not buying a pure bread dog, buy your mutt at a shelter), and some people take it the wrong way when you call them a breed. I love my dogs, one looks more like a poodle and the other one looks more like a pekingese so I studied the two breeds, and guess what they are the smartest, cutest, and lovable healthiest dog I have ever owned, who can argue with that. History will show that all dogs started as "mutts''. Have fun with them and love them, and don't worry what people call them and if someday they become a "true breed" so what.

Its a pug mixed with boston terrier. Just a designer mutt marked for profit by puppy mills. Sorry to down you choice of breeder to give money to. The mix is cute though and its not the dog's fault for being born, so I'm not hating the dog. The shed too much for me to even consider owning one myself.

I'm sure their are others but you do realize that a "bug" is not a breed right? It's just a cute name for a mixed breed. It's kind of like me calling my Shepard/Lab mix a SLAB.
