Are you really with the CHP? I have my doubts. There is no way that the Sheriff's Dept. would accept a kid with a criminal background in the Explorers and I think the CHP has even stricter guidelines. Your friend would not have been sent to jail for a simple accident resulting in a death, he had to have been culpable somehow - drinking, reckless driving etc... In any case, as an officer, you need to be very careful about who you associate with because I guarantee that bad associations drag you down.

Police explorer organizations are great for kids. Too bad this happened to you. Heres what I believe. You sound really young and so does the "friend" you are talking about. I don't know all the details about what happened but I do know that holding in the anger that you obviously have is not good at your age. If the Police explorers have taught you anything, it should be to talk about your problems and get them out where they can be solved and I mean with a councilor or close friend, not here in this place where you will get all kinds of conflicting advice. What happened has happened and you can't change that. the only thing you can do is be content in knowing he was your friend and the kid that did it has been judged and punished. You don't have to agree with the outcome or like it, but you had better come to except it. Good luck.

Sounds like a lot of bull....... I know personally I have felt like killing a guy or two that was dating my daughters but would never have acted on it. Then again, I don't know indian customs. I think maybe he should come here to marry you and stay a few thousand miles away until things calm down. Whats the age difference, is it really that serious. I can see if you were say nearly 30 and he was 18. I'd have a freakin attack myself. Maybe you should go on line and check out some of their customs and backgrounds. Get to know their culture and show her that your are extremely open. Good luck hun

What? Without knowing what caused the incident to begin with, how can we know if he would have been driven the way he was had he been an explorer? I was an explorer long ago and we had some real morons in the post. Believe me, just because someone is an explorer means virtually nothing in some cases when it comes to their behavior. In fact, it may make some feel like they are special and that can be dangerous.

If what you said was true - he'd either not have gone to jail for killing someone, or he'd be in for a long time.
Quit writing in all caps.
If you don't want to be friends with him, then don't.

We had some total losers that were cadets in our program with the Sheriff's Dept. One of many reasons I went to work for a municipal police dept. instead.
You can't take responsibility for everyone's life he made choices and now has to deal with them.
