The Bible does not say they were giants, but it does say they were real people.

I believe they were real people, and the belief that they were giants comes partially from the Bible and partially from creation science. The Bible says "There were giants in the Earth in those days". It is believed, and is supported by science and Scripture, that there used to be a 7th layer to our atmosphere made out of water or ice. This filtered out the harmful rays of the sun (which cause aging) and allowed people to live for hundreds of years. It also would have increased air pressure on the earth, and the oxygen content would have been much higher than today, which would have allowed people and animals, including dinosaurs, to grow to enormous sizes and live for hundreds of years. The fossil record shows evidence of giant modern animals, giant people and giant dinosaurs. Adam's blood hemoglobin would have been so saturated with oxygen that he could have run for hundreds of miles without getting tired.

The only giant mentioned in the Bible was Goliath and if you will try to read carefully the Book using your wisdom and understanding, you will find that Adam and Eve were real people and that they were the decendants of the Jewish people who are normally short in stock. There were people before the two main characters in the Jewish Book of God and that is clearly indicated yet somewhat partly hidden to most understanding given to us. Read the first Book again and look for inconsistencies but do not take it as it is because those inconsistencies may explain to you the wrong teachings from the beginning. Remember, evil is true to its way and from the start, his deception has always been there to confuse our minds.

I believe at some point in time there was an Adam and an Eve...that the whole world's population descended from one man and one woman, nah.
Later, in Genesis, (part of the Noah's Ark story) there's a verse about 'the son's of God knew the daughter's of man' and then the offspring were giants but they were evil, hence, the whole Noah's Ark thing. I think, a long time ago, the church power's decided to leave out the whole 'son's of God' bit and emphasized that (normal) humans had become so bad, we all needed to be destroyed.

Awesome idea! Love the"giants".

You can find progenitor archetypes in the oral and written traditions of every culture. This one just happens to be from the Judeo-Christian one. Some very interesting ones appear in Native American lore. Look up Creation Mythology sometime. All creation myths are formulations of the desire to know our progenitors.

By the way, the use of the word "myth" here doesn't imply that these are falsehoods or fairytales:

(Greek: mythos, "story." ) A myth is a story with an ambiguous sense of time and space ("A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...") that recounts extraordinary deeds done by extraordinary beings for the purpose of telling why things are as they are.

The Bible does not say that they were giants.

But there have been found many human footprints in rock that show that people were much larger.
Also there have been found a number of human skeletons (some wearing armar) that where over 10 foot tall.

Before the flood things were much different on earth. Because of the ice canopy there was about twice the air pressure and oxygen levels of what we have today. Plus the canopy kept out harmful sun light. This made it a very healthy environment and things grow larger and lived longer.

I believe Adam and Eve were real people but I don't remember seeing anywhere in scripture that said they were giants.

I don't understand the giant reference.
Genesis six says that there were giants in those days. That's all I see.
99.9% of all the questions people have about GOD would be answered if they just read the Bible through one time.

It doesn't say Adam & Eve were giants. That comes later. Check Genesis.

hmmm....I do believe they were real people. I do believe they were a lot larger than we are.

The bible does not say that they were. I think what you are referring to are the nephraim. Its in Genesis 6.

The theory that they were giants comes from the idea of a hydrosphere and a better atmosphere to live in. Better and more oxygen and a lot more free or cheap produce to live off of.
