In grade school in the 1950's sometimes for luch they would serve a weenie dish that was great. It was sliced up weenies in some sort of a catsup like sauce . The sauce had bits and pieces of things in it like pieces of onions and other stuff. Does anyone know what this was called or the recipe. It tasted great.

I make this at home. My kids love it. I just take the weiners and slice them up, put them in a sauce pan or larger pan, add bar-b-que sauce and a little water. Let that simmer until it is heated.
I use the bar-b-que sauce that has minced onions in it.

Sounds to me like it was weenies with bar b q sauce... At least a version of thin bar b q sauce.

I think I remember having something like that too...

Hrm. It sounds like franks n' beans to me. Which is basically pork and beans with cut up weenies. Heh. Heat it all up and it's done.

Maybe it could have been made with canned baked beans too for the flavors you described.

I believe the sauce you are referring to is one with a jar of chili sauce and a jar of grape jelly simmered together. (HONEST! It's good!) chop some onion and peppers in there if you want to and I add garlic powder
