A first generation immigrant to any country would certainly feel homesick. It is natural for him to keep in touch with what is happening back 'home'. This is more true of a person who doesn't immigrate but goes to another country for work. Even an American, for example, who is given an assignment for say 6 months in say UK or Korea, wants to watch programs on local TV which give him news of US!
To answer the question: see if you can get to read some newspapers you were familiar with, on the internet; subsribe to your favourite magazine from your country of origin (hereafter referred to as 'home' for simplicity's sake); join a local association of people from your home country; talk to your friends and realations back home as much as your pocket would let you; if you can rent a cew CDs from home, get to watch them; etc. This does not mean that you dont try to integrate with the country you have gone to, emotionally and culturally. That is absolutely necessary if your intention is to settle there.
The problem becomes less difficult for the second and third generation of such people, as they get to be raised in the local environment, and 'home country' for them would be the adopted country of their parents/grandparents!

I don't get it. People like you want to leave their homeland, go someplace else and then re-create their homeland or "stay connected." I think some people would call that being homesick. So go home. I know that sounds mean but change the question around. Suppose I go to India and decide to stay there then I start asking -- how can I stay connected with the US? See my point -- it's pretty obvious. If you are going to relocate and then set up "little India" in the US for example you won't assimilate and the citizens here will resent you -- what's the point?
