I have been trying to translate a saying that I read and the translation was "Lost in the mist of esquecimento". I can't figure out what esquecimento means though. I think it is an Irish saying, but I'm not sure.

Violet is right; esquecimento is the Portuguese noun derived from the verb "esquecer" which means "to forget". So I would translate it with "oblivion" or "forgetfulness", depending on the context.
