Im going today to get from my shoulder to my elbow sleeved out. Well they have to do all the outline and small deails today then when it heals I go and get it colored in and finished. My question is how long will it take for the first session of my tattoo to heal before I can go get it completely done? Thanks.

it depends on how your body heals but most tattoo artists want to wait 14 days so that the skin is completely healed. even tho your scabs should be peeled by 7 days or so the skin still won't be healed for about another week. so you're planning on getting a half sleeve done in two sessions? that is going to be brutal! most people i know take 3-5 sessions to get a sleeve but hey... if you can take it then yay! good luck!

Ok...my husband is going through the same process (chest panel and half sleeve). He has had MANY sessions. What worked best for him was 3 weeks. He did go after 2 weeks once, but the area swelled a lot faster and the tattooist couldn't work on it as long and he had to wait longer to go back again. Also, he has found that a high IU of vitamin E oil does help with the healing process and itching!!! Have FUN!!!

first off, don't expect to get all the coloring done in one sitting. the outline will need at least a week to heal. i recommend a solid 2-3 weeks to guarantee healing and lessen pain during coloring. the vital part to remember is coloring can take 3-4 times as long as the outline depending on shading and color amount. i would expect to sit for the outline, then the black and grey shading, then most of the color, then a final touch-up to finish any bright colors or white for details and fix any mistakes. so 4 sittings minimum.

2 weeks is the normal amount of time that a tattoo artist will tell you. It will have to scab over and heal before they will finish the tattoo.

Depending on your healing process, since everyone is different, I would say maybe a week.

Two weeks. They won't let you go back any sooner.
