Hello I have a blind siamese. She really does great considering her condition. But we are moving and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to make this as smooth as possible for her. EG navigating the new home etc.
Thanks

When you move into your new home, it may help to confine her initially to your bedroom or a bathroom, especially while the furniture and boxes are being moved in and unpacked. Put something familiar for her there, like a bed if she has one, or some of your clothes that you've worn recently.

After things have been moved into their places and the house has calmed down, you can let her out to explore. Walk along with her and talk to her reassuringly as she investigates.

I used to have a blind cat, and she actually did better adjusting to moves than my sighted cat. It almost seemed that to her, the new apartment was just a closet or room that she hadn't discovered before. As long as I walked around with her and talked to her while she explored, she was fine.

Good luck!

The easiest way for her to adjust to her new environment is to do it very gradually. First, set up her new home in just one room of the new house. A small bedroom or bathroom might be best- far from packing and movers. Give her a few day sto learn her way around this room, then gradually expand her world. Use a baby gate to block off steps for a long time- this is her biggest danger.
Good luck!

You want your baby to be comfortable in the new setting. I would suggest not washing any toys, kitty blankets or kitty beds for a while because your kitty is used to those smells of the old house. Give her time to adjust to the new place. Also helpful is if you can place her belongings in places similar to where they used to be. Her nose is quite sharp and can find all kinds of stuff. If they are ripping out the carpet from your old place see if they can give you a piece of it to take with you for kitty so she can have a slice of home. Most importantly just give kitty time if she wants to hide let her don't force her to explore it may result into some nasty scratches. Good Luck

I would just add something. When you start her out in a new room, make sure there is nothing she can hurt herself on or supervise her every move so that she doesn't hurt herself.
And thank you for not "putting her to sleep" just because she has a disability.
Cats are smart. She'll figure it out.
