In a perfect world, what should Christianity stand for, besides Jesus of course.

Christianity is primarily in favor of being against the rights and freedoms of others. If Christians governed only themselves, that would be fine, but they want to dictate their beliefs to the world.

Christianity in its perfect state, according to the bible, should stand for a spartan existence, giving generously to others, forgiving and tolerating everyone. Yeh. Ha.

It also depends upon where you are in your journey. Newly converted Christians usually go through a love affair while they are on the 'milk' and they stand for what is good and lovely and beautiful in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.... but as they mature in the faith and begin to chew on the "meat" where more and more truths (not so lovely truths) are revealed, they often begin to take a stand against what is NOT of God - the evil that is lurking about to devour. Although some Christians will go looking for it, we are often simply attacked because the enemy sets out to thwart any works that may bring more to Christ. The Bible says "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

In my opinion, it is known in the secular world more for what it is against, because that is when it is sort of "in your face"

Christianity puts an emphasis on morality, compassion, personal interaction with God, and the search for absolute truth.
In a perfect world, Christians would focus more on those things than they would arguing with nonbelievers on Yahoo. Notice I said arguing not witnessing. Yes, we are to go out and try to convert the world, but I happen to believe the lyrics of that pop song,
"first you save yourself -- then you save the world."
Christiniaty today, for a lot of people, has become more of a tradition than any real belief, and you see that by the numbers. Some 80% call themselves Christians, yet this country does not have a Christian culture to show for it.
But alas, there will always be fresh recruits on Yahoo, people who want to debate over sin like it hasn't been done a million times before. But you see these same Christians out in the real world, and they don't keep the compassion side.

well right now, christianity is certainly represented more by what it is against...
and although i am not christian i would say that in a perfect world christianity should be represented by the things it is for, because in actuality it is a very peaceful religion (without all these radicals giving it a bad name). but in the perfect world i would wish that christianity would not hold sway in our governmental decisions, that it wouldn't start so many wars, and that it wasn't the largest religion in the world.

Unfortunately Christianity is seen as legalism and the 10 commandments.

"If God is for me-who can be against me?"
"Be in the world--but not of it."
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life."
