This was actually my answer to the same type of question by another user. When the question was put to a vote mine was voted best :-)

chicken [noodle] soup can be made pretty much however you want...recipe or not. Everyone makes it differently & puts different items in theirs. I basically just put together some water, chicken broth (or cubed/powdered bullion), noodles, chopped chicken & whatever vegetables desired, if any. I usually just put carrots & celery in mine. Then add whatever seasonings you want for flavor (I use Mrs. Dash, Celery Salt & some Garlic powder/salt) & let it all simmer in the crockpot for a while until the noodles & chicken are thoroughly cooked...especially the chicken. Sometimes it helps to pop the chicken in the microwave for a bit beforehand to precook it since chicken takes longer to cook than noodles. If you want to add some dumplings in it, just take those pre-made biscuits from the can like you would find at the grocery store & cut into cubes. Making it homemade is always better for you because there isn't nearly as much sodium (salt) & preservatives as you would find in canned soup.....and you can make it to your tastes! Barley or rice is always a good add on too but if you're letting it cook in a crockpot for a while then use regular. Instant will just end up mushy & completely disgusting.

Enjoy :-)

must have chicken in it, chicken thighs are cheep and taste the best
add pearl barley to thicken
a soup is not a soup without celery
a slow cook in the crock pot would be enhanced by adding harraco beans
cooking a soup to offer to Friends should be looked on as a character building exercise
so should be part of you and should express yourself
add what you feel fits together, and enjoy, your friends will love you and your soup.

2 1/2 to 3 1/2 pounds chicken pieces
4 cups water
4 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste, depending on saltiness of broth
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 leek or small onion chopped
1 carrot, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram or basil
1 bay leaf
6 ounces noodles
PREPARATION:
Place all ingredients except noodles in the Crock Pot. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. Remove chicken and bay leaf from pot; take meat from bones, dice, and return to broth, and add the noodles.

Cook another hour or until noodles are done (about 1/2 hour on high). Or, cook the noodles separately and add them just before serving.

OR
1 pound boneless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes
5 cups chicken broth
8 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced (2 cup)
3/4 cup sliced celery
1/2 cup sliced carrots
1/2 cup raw rice
1/4 cup chopped onions
1 cup frozen or canned mixed vegetables
1/2 tsp. ground sage
1/4 tsp. pepper
PREPARATION:
In slow cooker, combine chicken, broth, vegetables and seasonings.
Cover and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours, or cook on high for 3 to 4 hours. Makes 2 quarts of chicken rice soup.

All fruits are fruit and vegetables. A "vegetable" is a plant, any part of which can be used for food.

Try vegetarian soup. That would be much healthier.
