In the past I saw a commercial of an egg being fried with the caption stating: “This is what drugs do to your brain.” Can anyone explain in detail what drug and alcohol abuse really do to the brain and how it effects a persons moral reasoning or any other effect it would have on the brain. How does it effect the entire body? Someone once told me that if you take drugs it could stunt the growth of or shrink your sexual organs, is this true?

The egg being fried is goofy but drugs can be very bad for the brain, particularly hard drugs I would think. I think a strong drug like cocaine does an enormous amount of damage to the brain. Where moral reasoning is affected, some drugs like crack can motivate somebody to lie, cheat and steal constantly to find the money necessary to pay for crack addiction. Alcohol goes through the entire body and has effects on many different organs. If alcohol is drunk responsibly, it is safe, but it can have major damaging effects on the liver and on the brain if it is abused. As far as I understand, the drug that stunts the growth of or shrinks your sexual organs is steroids. That I believe is true. In general that is the only one I have heard of.

Ok... That commercial was lying... No it won't do that exact effect to a brain... But what they are talking about is that it will make your brain so F'ed up... Now what it will do is will make your brain become less responsive... Make your normal everyday functions become a challenge... Drug abuse is probably the worse... Because of what some of the drugs can do to your body... Like for instance... Anything you snort... Like Cocaine... Will actually put holes in your nose... Some will actually put holes in your brain... There are some that won't have any physical effects... But make you so paranoid... That you would shoot yourself just to keep a cat from coming to kill you... The alchohl will mainly just f-up your liver... It will do other things... But not as bad as alot of drugs... And I'm sorry... I'd go into it farther... But my class is about over...

Drug and alcohol abuse effect your memory, short term memory, it almost destroys it. It can heal itself,it does take a long time once you are detoxified. As far as moral reasoning-you don't have any morals-you will do whatever it takes to obtain your drug/alcohol of choice. You will hurt those around you, people you love, you will do things that if sober you would never ever do.
Alcohol effects you liver, and that is not something to heal once the damage is done.
I no nothing about sexual organs, I would consider that the least of ones worries.

Most of the damage that is done to your body when u drink and do drugs is in ur brain. I saw this video in health class once and it showed a scan of this girls brain who like went out drinking every night, and her brain had a lot of damage that couldn't be reversed. Her brain had like all these craters missing and it was like smaller, kinda gross actually.

Now if you smoke weed this affects your short term memory after a while, and you'll start having trouble remember little things.

As for shrinkinkg your sexual organs...ive never heard of this, and if you really think about it, look at all the people that drink and do drugs. It doesn't seem like it....

No it doesn't stunt your growth of any part of your body. Drugs and alcohol not only ruin your physical well being they ruin your whole outlook on life, because they take control of mind and body. Alcohol damages your internal organs liver, etc. damages your stomach lining (ulcers) increases your risk of other diseases hampers your ability to function normally (i.e.driving) working etc. Causes weight gain as you age, increase blood pressure. Drugs do just about the same thing, not to mention cost, long term health issues, loss of job, family friends. Best not to get deeply involved in alcohol consumption. And stay away from drugs period if you never try them then you never miss them or like them or become addicted. Stay clean and sober.

It ultimately depends on which drug. Alcohol can be just as damaging as many of the hard drugs if consumed in excess.
My father-in-law was a heavy drinker...he wound up with Pancreatic cancer and died.
In the short term, these things will kill off your brain cells.

the first thing with the drug is that it causes depression and also you might become dependable, lose your social life and always being out of mood, alcohol can destroy your liver and kidney.

these are some side effects of drugs but not everything. I hope it help you to make good decision for your life!

Drugs change the level of chemicals in the brain and the rest of the body - prompting many different physical responses like heightened body temperature, visions, feelings of euphoria, anxiety, higher or lower sexual libido, feelings of excitement or calm. It depends of the drug - they each are designed to affect different parts of the brain and promt different responses.

basicaly:
drugs **** up your brain by altering cells there and cousing deformities in your brain. this can lead to major problems like brain cance and also brain damage.
drugs: can also just make you completely insane(although you must be to take em in the first place)

alcohol damages your living and if you drink too much then it carnt cope with it and you bust your liver in and then need a transplant. (oh and then you probly wont be able to drink at all)
alcohols fine unless you do it in too much quantity. like you can get drunk but getting drunk till you fall over and your throwing up then you realy should stop that couse you will need surgery)
