Get him a bed, food, a food dish, and toys. And a litter box (I prefer the litter boxes with walls and a roof, you know, those dome-shaped ones, or else litter gets ALL over the place!) And LOTS AND LOTS of kitty litter. Give your kitten all the attention you can give him and hold him as much as you can so he doesn't become too independent or mean, and I've learned not to teach your kitten to play with your hands, because when you pet him he'll think your hand is an evil monster from his water dish that has come to attack him and he'll bite your hand! And if you lay on the couch, he'll also think your feet are evil hands and attack those, too! (Getting bit by little tiny kitty teeth hurts more on your legs and feet than on your arms and hands, trust me!) Go to the vet, give him all his shots, and if she's a girl, spay her, you know why, and if he's a boy, PLEASE neuter him or he'll be peeing (Called spraying)all over the house! And litter box train him. When I got my cat, he was already litter box trained, so I can't help you there. Good luck!

This book should be helpful:

Love him to bits. Make sure he gets all his shots. Take him to the vet and make sure he's healthy, make a plan for keeping him that way. Lots of play activities. Save yourself some headache with extra playtime just before you go to bed. Cats a more nocturnal than we are so you want him pretty tired at your bedtime.
They do sleep a lot! So do not be alarmed when he sleeps 14 hours a day.
Good food is important, make sure it is cat food their digestive system is different enough from dogs that you do not want to feed them dog food.
Have lots of fun!

Love him, play with him, cuddle him. Make sure you keep him healthy with flea treatment, worm treatment and vaccinations. You should be considering getting him castrated about now if it hasn't been done already or he will be wandering off anytime now looking for girls and will start peeing all over the house. Feed him, he'll let you know if you are doing that right. That's about it. Simple really.
