I am going to get a license in the state of Washington, but I'm going to college in North Carolina. How do I get a license in NC? Do I have to do a written test and/or driving test?

As a college student your home state is Washington so you don't need an NC license.

If you have a Washington license, you take it to the NC DMV. They will give you the NC test (written only), and you will get a new license.

Your drivers license is good in any state in the US. As long as it is only for school, you shouldn't need to get a new license. I don't think you need to get your car registration changed either. That is if you still use your parents house (or whatever) as your permanent address.

if it's only for college, and you're not planning to live there after college, then you don't need to get a new licesnse. you only need a new license if you're a resident, meaning, since you're paying out of state tuition, then you aren't a resident. I wouldn't worry about that. you may need to take your licesnse to the county in which your college is located, so that they can add your address to that license, but even that you shouldn't have to worry about.

good luck!
