I think it's time for a new vet. I've never heard of a vet that turns clients away due to a busy schedule - that ridiculous (And I've worked for a few different kinds of vets for YEARS).
It could be old age, it could be the beagle is now Alpha and the rottie is submitting, it could be she doesn't like her food and it could be that she's sick.
It's to general to really be able to give an answer. Are there other symptoms? Are her stools loose? Is she drinking A LOT, not enough etc.
Good Luck

The best thing to do is take her to the vet. If your vet can't fit you in for a few weeks, I recommend taking her to another vet. If there is something seriously wrong, it could get much worse in a very short period of time. So don't wait. Hopefully it is nothing serious. Good luck.

the vet couldnt get you in for a couple of weeks??? change vets, find a vet who will see this dog immediately, only you know how serious this may be. I hope everyting works out, I know how you feel - mine is my baby too!! And he's a big baby! 140 lbs.

It could be something serious and life threatening such as gastrointestinal or liver related.
And honestly, if they can't see her for a few weeks, you should seriously get her to another vet quicker. (one that cares about your dog, and understands how serious a condition this is).
If it's GI or kidney issue, she might need some serious attention in the next 72 hours.
Also, her weight needs to be considered, and she could have thyroid issues (hypothyroid) which i common in older dogs.
Do not easily/quickly dismiss her symptoms. She's trying to tell you that there is something seriously wrong with her, and this is your chance to have her properly examined.
Hope this helps.

Find a new vet. 2 weeks is to long to wait for a vet.
There could be numerous reasons as to why she is losing weight so I do not want to fathom a guess

We had a bull mastiff for 9 years....she was our baby too....she got like this too...she had cancer...I think 2 weeks is too long....call them back and tell them you really need her seen earlier....if they can't get her in , find another vet....what if she has swallowed something and has an obstruction in her bowel....could be why she is losing weight....2 weeks might be too long. Good luck.

my suggestion would be to call your vet back, tell them you think it could be serious and try to get a sooner appointment. if they aren't willing to accomodate, i would find another vet, and tell your current one that you are doing so! maybe they'll learn to better serve their clients! a drastic change in appetite and weight loss could mean something serious. i would definitely not wait! if nothing turns out to be wrong, you'll be relieved, and if something is wrong you'll have saved what could be precious weeks of treament! all the best to you and your pup.

If my vet said it was going to be two weeks before they could see my out of character dog I would be finding a new vet. There is no excuse for that.

You can go to your local Petsmart and get some Nutra-Cal. It will put weight on her. It sounds to me though that she might have worms. Or maybe she is tierd of the food you feed her. Try some new food, but remember it cannot have corn or by-products in it.. By-products and things like animal bones, fur and feathers.. And corn isn't digestable. Corn has also been proven in labs to cause cancer in mice, so it can do the same to dogs.
