Freeze them first. Take them out of the jugs and put the ice in the barrel. You will be able to tell which water came from which jug.

you could put food coloring in each jug, different colors of course, then freeze them and put them in the barrell
you know which ice block came from each because of the color and it is still technically water, just the frozen kind!
