I've never done my own taxes but I am thinking about doing them myself this year. I just can't justify paying to have someone else to it. I'll have a pretty simple return. I'm a single mom, filing head of household, I have 1 son and the only thing I plan to claim is daycare expenses. I guess I'm just worried that I'll screw it up. I've never even really looked closely at my W-2. I'm not sure what it all means. Do you think I can do it by myself? Are the online sites easy enough for someone like me to understand?

It is easy. I am a single mom and don't have anything fancy to put on my tax return either. Go to the IRS website and do it there. They have electronic filing and everything and you can usually do it for free!!!! It goes step by step with you. I've done it before.

Turbo tax is the easiest thing ever, costs 20 bucks and you can get it done within an hour, when you finish the software actually double checks everything to make you sure you did it right, its amazing.
