you can possibly do foster care. I don't know how it goes, but I know that it won't cost 20,000 dollars

I would definitely recommend adopting a child from foster care. We adopted 5 children-two of the children were 3; one was just under 2 years of age and another was a newborn. Our oldest child at the time was 6. While *most* children available for adoption from foster care are special needs this does not necessarily mean they have major medical issues. Special needs can mean: older than age 2, of an ethnic minority that would otherwise make it difficult for the child to be adopted, part of a sibling group or has special medical/emotional needs. Our children are all healthy with no medical or emotional problems. They were classified as special needs because of minority or sibling group status. We were required to attend several weeks of training, have a background check and our home inspected; however, we had children within a year. All of our adoption fees (attorney, etc.) were reimbursed by the state. We really wanted a young child and this, by far, was the most affordable option for us. It worked out really well. Be aware; however, that you may need to take a child who is considered a legal risk to get a really young child. This means parental rights may not actually have been terminated yet but it is in the works. This was the case with all of our children but everything worked out just fine.

The best way if you are financially bound is to become a foster parent first. Not only are you compensated "a little" from the state, but if the child is available for adoption at a later date, it is less expensive than going the agency route, there are still some fees however.

you can adopt a special needs child. I was told not all kids have a special need the older they are no one wants them so they call them special needs and some just have minor problems like emotional problems because they are taken away from their parents or something has happen to their parents I have a aunt that adopted two kids and one has to be on meds for adhd and other things but he is a good kid if he has his meds and the other one she adopted she is 8 and she has no problems I guess adopting from state for special needs they pay the medical for them till they are 18 I think and also send you a check I think each month to help pay for food and clothes. and other things you want to get. but that's all I really know you can find out through you state and see what else their is to go through.

We adopted our daughter in 2003 for a little under $9000. We went through a non profit group in our area that specializes in biracial and minority adoptions. They "link" you up with agencies or birth moms that meet your criteria. Domestic adoptions are generally much less expensive than international. There are so many babies in the US that need love and family. In most cases, domestic adoptions are much faster as well, especially if you are open to options as you say. It was less than 3 weeks from our first contact with this group when our daughter was in our arms. State (DSS) adoptions can sometimes be a gigantic emotional roller coaster, but very economical as well. (Before anyone knocks that comment...let's be honest, you want to be able to pay for college too.) There is no greater feeling in the world than the first time you hold your baby that you fought so hard for. Good Luck and Many Blessings!!!

I would try calling the Local CPS program and ask them about the programs that adopt out children who have been picked up by CPS, My sister in law went that route, she had a child within a year, and they did not pay lots of money into it. She adopted a brother and sister, and they were both under the age of two. They are beautiful children. So go that route.

my parents adopted a girl 11 years ago.. my mother gave the mother's child 50 pesos (23 philippine peso = 1 US$ at that time). I don't know where is her mother now. my father's bestfriend is a lawyer, so the process is free and now my stepsister is legally adopted. in the philippines you can get a baby and vintage skecher's shoes for exchange. no sweat.........

If you go through the foster system it's free, in fact you actually get paid a monthly fee at first. My friend did this but there are classes to take and lots of paperwork to fill out.
