i saw something last night that really disturbed me. children at church were being taught evolution is fake and creation is real. afterwards they were given an oral test on what they believe. these kids were just rattling off what they were told and still had a look of confusion. when asked why they believe in creation they questionably answered back, because they bible says so, like they were hoping to get the right answer. is that fair? or another form of brainwashing?

If I really do believe that accepting Jesus' sacrifice is the only way to get reconciled with God and live with him for the whole eternity (which I do), then the question of wanting to force that to anybody, especially your own child, becoms really important. Of course, you want with all your heart everybody you love to share the same unbelievable future that is awaiting you. But then, we can't force anything on anybody. Accepting Christ comes from the heart of the person himself and as much as I would like it, I would never be able to go into my child's heart and take the decision for her. But I can start teaching her what I believe since she is young and will hope and pray that what I teach her will bring her to a real knowledge of God one day. If she rejects it when she grows up, I will suffer but still I won't be able to change that decision for her. So for me it is absolutely necessary to start teaching children the really important stuff while they are still young. But then, I also understand what you mean. I don't like when a child is not taught to think for herself and in that particular case the teacher is at fault. That's where the parents should come to correct and influence in the right direction. Still we never know what's gonna become of our children when they grow up, the surprise is still at hand!! :-)

Well, evolution is fake, and creation is real. That is the teaching I grew up with, and that is what I believe, because I believe everything that the Bible says, because It is God's Word. As for forcing beliefs, no, I don't agree with doing that at all. I have never done that to anyone.

No, it's not fair to force beliefs on anyone, let alone children. And yes, I would say that's a form of brainwashing.

No it's not fair. Children should be allowed to think for themselves.

The Bible IS real.
You TRAIN their minds.
Just because YOU don't believe, doesn't mean GOD doesn't exist, because He DOES.

I am a product of HIS LOVE.
HE CHANGED ME--INSIDE AND OUT!!
SAVED! by the grace of God.
