I remember that a punishment in school when the boys, or girls were acting up, was to seat us, or line us up, boy-girl-boy-girl.
I dunno if this is a good practice, and thinking of the awkwardness when I sought a girlfriend a few years later, I'm sure that didn't help.

ok, to the smarty who thought I was into guys or whatever, it's a comfort thing. This is being like 6 or 7. At that age you wanna hang w/ you boy (or girls).

Yes, I remember the practice. The object was to calm down the problem makers (boys) by placing girls in between them so they could discontinue their negative behavior. It worked. The girls would always give an honest assessment of how was responsible for the problem. The boys were always into denial.

Yes, I was infatuated with my sixth grade teacher and that continued until I went to another school for high school (grades 9 - 12). I still think and wonder about him, mainly because he was such an excellent teacher. He was the best teacher in that grade school.

What was the point to the line up of boy-girl as this would have an impact on answering your question.

We never did that in our elementary school. With kids now they wouldn't care if they had to sit boy girl. Times have definitely changed since back then. Kids are very open these days and alot smarter than we were at their age

O my gosh, yes I do! LOL. Like sitting next to someone of the opposite sex was soo bad. Do you remember how horrible it was to have your name written on the board. Wow, the mind games these people play with children is crazy! Can you imagine your boss now threatening to write your name on the board. lol. Crazy stuff.

How is lining you up boy/girl/boy/girl, or seating you that way damaging to you?

That was a smart teacher. The girls couldnt talk to each other and you boys wouldnt talk to girls so the classroom could continue with learning.
