I have been to Best Buy, Circuit City, and two local stereo shops in town. I have been told by all four that they cannot and will not change out any Honda audio including speakers. There were several reasons but generally the same, the cars ABS, Airbags, and something else is wired into the stereo system. You have to obtain some sort of adaptor from Honda at about $130 for each speaker you want to swap out.
Has anyone been able to swap out speakers or the stereo in a 2007 Civic?

you want a real system, you go to a real shop, if they REALLY know what they are doing, they can do it. its called "custom" for a reason. ive been a mechanic/car builder for bout 10 years now. if you got a little money to throw around a good shop could do it for bout.....
$200 for decent deck
$150 in adapters(should only need 2-3, most new cars run circuits together.)*
$300 speakers and wire, boxes(if equipped with subs also), etc
$150-250 for labor(depending on shop)

so for between $800-1050 you could get a deceent set-up.

*(most circuits in the car can also be "overridden" by removing fuses and "looping" the wire circuit.)

Pureextreme is most assuredly right. There isnt anything related to airbags, ABS, O2 sensors, ufo's or dept of defense involved with your speakers. Many vehicles today are interfacing things through the head unit (i.e. GM's OnStar feeding through the radio) but there's nothing on the planet that is encoded or electrical that can not be decoded and managed. Honda's are included in that.

The other comment regarding profesional shops is true too. Best Buy and Circuit City are more prone to hire ppl who have a lot of experience flipping burgers at Wendy's than what you would find at a custom shop.

YOU can install the speakers in your car with relative ease. You will need a phillips screwdriver and maybe a 10mm, 8mm, and 7mm socket (more likely just the 10mm, if that at all). something to pop the panel off would be cool and a small flat head screwdriver to help disconnect the electrical connections. A pair of good Klein (or comparable) crimpers would probably be the only thing you'd really have to spend some money on. Female disconnects and butt connectors for 14 to 16 guage wire (what you would find in your door) are commonly availabe at WalMart, HomeDepot, Lowe's and other places. It's an easy job, just takes some time and patience. Best part, it wont cost you anything in labor.

Good luck!

what ive herd yes, but its not very common, and also its harder than you think, the reason why they wont do it cause if they ruin the car when replacing it it there fault and they have to pay for it. and its not cheap. a real car audio expert would do it if they were payed good money and also they probly dont have experiance doing newer cars, i havent done alot of new cars but when doing that you have to know how the speaker wire and other wire has to be set back in, its also a safty feture for the car so if anyone tries to steal anything that feture will go off.

I referred to as our provider dept- and asked my widespread tech (I truthfully have been w/Honda for 8 years) - And sure ........... being that's the "outstanding of the line" interior the Accord's - a amp - is " geared up in" - so a "exterior" after-industry one, isn't mandatory . satisfied trails w/your Honda - you will like it !
