what you have is called "shin splints"
The term shin splints refers to a painful condition that develops along the inside (medial edge) of the shin (tibia). The usual location is along the lower half of the tibia, anywhere from a few inches above the ankle to about half-way up the shin.

You might want to check the shoes you are wearing, and wear more comfortable ones.

You can also strengthen your fibula muscle which will help reduce shin splints. You can do this by simply lifting your toes repeatedly (keeping your heel on the ground).

Good Luck

Two reasons, first you likely haven't walked much prior, and second, you probably aren't using the correct shoes. To walk any distance without discomfort requires a good pair of shoes to support the structures of the foot, so the tendons are not strained, those tendons attach to the femur at several points, causeing pain in the shins aka shin splints. Consider orthotics.

I would say shin splints, but could be caused by many things, one could be if you dont have shoes that support your foot well. Another could be if you are flat footed or if you have falling arches but usually those would make your feet hurt as well.

If it is shin splints (which thats what it sounds like) treatment includes rest, massage, ice, stretching, and strengthening. Rest and ice is sometimes the best treatment, but stretching can reduce the hurt slightly. Strengthening isn't insanely important but it does help in the long run.

Not sure if you are male or female? I've heard that if you always wear flat shoes you can get pains in your shins - however, I think MOST men only wear flat shoes which surely means, if you use this theory, you would always have sore shins? You could try different shoes for a while to see if that makes any difference. If not, you might need to go to your Dr.

I used to get shin splints when I would go jogging. I found it help a lot to wrap my shins with an ACE bandage. Give this a try.

You've heard from a number of these answers that it's likely to be shin splints but in terms of getting a cure if you don't get anywhere from self help stretching exercises and footwear then a podiatrist who specialises in sports problems would be able to help.

sounds like shin splints. u need to add some padding to the heels of your shoes (from the inside) to cushion the blow. avoid walking for a week and stay off really hard surfaces like the sidewalk or in the mall until it heals.

If you have been running or jogging you may have torn the muscle a little bit which can be very painful. If that is the case, wrapping them will help.
