The word "Christian" litterally means "the people of Christ". We know it moreso to be "Christ-like". In either translation, how can you say you are a Christian if you do not live in a manner that represents who He is?

If you are truely in Christ and He is in you, then you should show, in the way you live your life, that He has changed you. Galatians 5:22 - 25 explains the things that should be shown in your life. If these things (love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self-control) are not evident in your life, and you are not striving to obtain them, then you can not stake a claim to the name, nor can anyone else claim that name for you.

HI
I have always thought a name was important to who you are but now it seems that they are more trendy than anything now. My name means perfection, my parents knew that when they named me, Lammy is my nickname. So they did put thought into it. but now I don't think parents do that.
LAmmy

Being a Christian means that you believe that Jesus is the Christ and therefor the Son of God. That is it. Being a Christian alone does not in any way make someone Christ-like. A good many (some might say most) Christians are far from Christ-like.

my name means nothing about me, because my parents are dumb, and gave me an Irish name, and i'm not irish, but in the Christian case, only people who believe in christ are going to name their kid Christian. The attempt will be to make the child a devout Christian, but that isn't to say that he won't stray. A name is just a collection of letters.

The key words in your question is "striving to obtain them." Remember Christ went to heal the sick and the sinners. Sometimes it's not who we are, but who we are striving to become that counts.

Oh, I thought you meant "does your name determine who you are?".

No, your name determines what you're called.

'If you're in christ and he is in you?' Sick, dude.
