If hes not willing to accept help or to seriously attempt to change hes gonna end up talking to the police in the near future. ADHD is not linked with stealing, that's a separate issue. Unfortunately all you can do is keep try to persuade him and support him when it hits the fan;

I hate to say this, but now that he's 18 there's not much you can do legal wise, but if he still lives at home you have some leverage there. He has to get these disorders under control before he lands in prison, or worse. Remind him that when, not if, he gets arrested for stealing that upon conviction, he goes to adult jail. If the offense is serious enough, it's prison for him. Also, you can set boundaries that he must adhear to or there will be consequences, and then stick to them. It's your house. Another thing you can try is an intervention. There should be therapists in your area that do these or they can direct you to someone who does. Interventions aren't just for addicts, they work for anyone who needs help and has to have a nudge to get them to go. I'm 99% sure that his ADHD is contributing to his kleptomania and once he understands that he can't do this alone and accepts help he will straighten out. Some of this may seem harsh, but his issues are potentially life threatening if you take them to their logical conclusions so perhaps some 'tough love' is in order. Good luck and God bless. Peace.

the label ADHD is only good in school. when you get out to the real life it can be a draw back since kids have learned to relied on this for getting away with things, that non ADHD people would be in trouble.
Your son will have to help him self now that he is out of school. there is help for adults adhd people for educational opportunities.

his problem with Kleptomania, will be treated as any other person problem with kleptomania be treated as stealing, as an adult not a juvenile... he needs help to get over this problem
