That is one of my biggest pet peeves!

A preposition links nouns or pronouns in a sentence. For example, the use of "without" in the statement "marry the one whom you can't imagine yourself living without" is perfectly correct. The use of "about" in the question "what's the fuss all about?" is also correct.

The use of prepositions (in, out, above, across, under, over, from, behind, below, etc.) at the end of the sentence, whether a statement or a question, depends on the message being conveyed by the writer.

What do you ask that for? lol

Actually, most people do end sentences with prepositions because putting the preposition in its correct position is often awkward.

An example:

A: I am going dancing on Saturday.

B: With whom are you going?

Now, who would actually as a question phrased that way?

I would never use a preposition to end a sentence with. Where are you coming from? I'll have to give you a good talking to.

I think you have to be reasonable about it. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to ask someone to "describe the country from which you came" for example. But "I don't know where my cell phone is at" sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

As Winston Churchill quipped, "That is a situation up with which I will not put!"

Cheers!
