oh i am sorry....pets are part of the family too so when they do die you grieve like you would for a human...i have lost pets in the past and i was devastated, they become your best friend, i hope your son will be ok once you tell him....sorry for yours and your mums loss, maybe you could find a little place in your garden to lay him to rest, i made a little pet cemetery for the ones i lost so i can visit them each day...bless you....my thoughts are with you....x

So sorry to hear about Basil People dont realise that when a pet dies, especially one of that age, that it is like losing a member of the family. Good luck with telling your son, he will be understandably upset. x

Your sad because people you love are going to be sad also. Its good to know people can still have these feelings. So many people might lie, and say the animal ran away, or " don't know where that dog is ". When your son sees how upset you are and your their to comfort him it'll make him feel better. Sorry to hear about the family pet. Good luck

Losing a pet is never easy.. I am sure you were probably more attached to the dog than you thought you were, which is why you are surprised by the level of your saddness.
When your Mom is ready, encourage her to find another little dog to keep her company..
Your son will be fine, just hang out with him for a bit while he adjusts to the news.

My husband and I were depressed for months when we lost our beloved Golden Retriever a couple of years ago. We also had to take care of our other dog who went from a wild puppy to a brewing mass hiding out in the bathroom. After several months of this my hubby went to the animal shelter and brought home an adorable La Hasa Apso. She ran up to our grieving puppy and they have been best buds ever since. This got my hubby and I out of our funk. We have photos of our Sedona around the house, she is not forgotten but we all feel better now and we know she is in a better place. Just wanted you to know I can feel your pain and that there is happy days to enjoy.

So sorry to hear that, i was surprised at how upset i was when my mums dog died too.
I hadn't even been living there for nearly a year so i wasn't that attached but you just can't help but be sad.
Tell you son he's gone to heaven and it's a wonderful place.
I told my little sister that our grandad is looking after him now, that helped.

I hadn't seen some Disney video clips as a toddler. (mom concept they have been evil). yet, the only which did make me experience extremely unhappy grow to be the comparable scene in Bambi, while the mummy died. I watched it some years in the past, after having little ones, and it made me cry lower back. that's weird and wonderful how having teenagers differences your view on issues.

Oh no poor you. I don't care what anyone says but a dog is a man's best friend. Your son will probably sob all day, but it's all part of life - we've all been there.
Take care.
