Hi, trying to block limewire on my local network, meaning i want it to be done in my router, not using firewalls or anything.

Ive blocked ports 6346:6347 TCP/UDP but its still downloading, using critical bandwidth. Any way to tell my router that its not allowed? Its a Belkin.

I'd exit, but since 4 other people in my house are using it, i cant simply walk into a locked room and turn a program off. UPnP already seems to be disabled which is odd...

Limewire uses UPnP, which basically allows it to use a different random port every time it runs. As long as the router also has UPnP enabled (which many do by default), the router will allow Limewire to communicate on any port it wants.

In other words, every time Limewire gets started up, your router allows it to communicate on a different port. This would explain why just blocking 6346 and 6347 aren't working. You have to disable UPnP on your router, or go into the options of Limewire and disable UPnP there.

Not really a router thing, as far as I understand. Limewire will use whatever ports you use for explorer. If it's chewing up your bandwidth, stop using it, remove it, or limit it's use to off-peak times.

Why not simply exit Limewire?
