I have ordered Peavey6 Mixer (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/p... and Shure58 Mic

I plan to use the speaker for just vocals and want to be heard over some unmiced drums in rooms smaller than 150 people.

I don't know anything about mixing the right power amp to the speakers and figure buying an active speaker will be easier, any recommendations?

You are on the right track with www.musiciansfriend.com They have a multitude of power amps and PA systems that are just right for vocals. I just got the new Musicians Friend catalog and looking through it I recommend the following item. Kustom PA package number 630542. This has a 200w power amp with 7 channels, 2 speakers with 12" subs and 4"x10" horns. Total price is $479. All you would need to do is hook your system up with the included cables and hook your mike and adjust to the level of the room until you reach clarity between you and the drums.

in case you opt for low fee, some super used audio device could be bought on Ebay, sturdy makes like Peavey and Yamaha are sturdy high quality and sturdy, it is conceivable even to purchase an entire massive outdated PA device very low fee in case you await it to return up domestically. a sturdy high quality used speaker will knock the socks off a low fee new one, and could be two times as loud or extra for the comparable wattage enter. a low fee energetic speaker is lots extra probable to make it easier to down whilst the amp dies. Whichever sort you return to a determination to get, high quality used will win palms down over low fee new equipment.
