My man (of 3 months @ the time) said he brought me all these lovely things for xmas...i brought him something and gave it to him...2 weeks later i still hadnt got my pres, so i got a bit agitated..he then todl me it was all a test to see if iwas a golddigger, and that i had passed!!!! i was so angry he thought i wanted him for his money...

After all that he aplogised, and said he would take me shopping. i refused and said "lets just not do gifts in the future"...anyway, it came to the day he woulda took me shopping and he said he wanted 2 go into town..

low and behold he brought me some expensive perfume (nearly a month after xmas!"

so my question to you is... (mostly men or woman who have been with men who play these games)

- why do men play tricks like this..and isit common?
- if a woman doesnt react what does that say, and vice versa
- and in my story why did he end up buying me something, isit because i didnt show care for it
- what other tricks do u guys do?xx

Women are the ones who usually do the scheming and manipulating, not men.

I understand where you are coming from. But to be honest, the reason he might have done that could be because there are women who are after bling bling money money, gifts, jewelry and so on. I am not saying you are one of them. You sound very nice and genuine. I am not trying to talk in a stereotypical way. All I am saying is, there are jerks both in men and women alike.

Now your man, even though did things that would make anyone angry, doesn't seem so bad after all. I know that wasn't the only way for him to see whether his girl friend is genuine, but i think you can take it easy for this time. But you can tell him how you felt about the whole thing. You can tell him that you are not one of those women who is after money. Let him know that you were hurt by his actions. But don't have to punish him. Now both of you are aware of the fact that you both dont need to test eachother.
Attitude, craziness, tricks, emotions are not just features of men, they are equally shared by women too. I shouldn't be giving advice on your relationship, but just a small piece of friendly suggestion......Dont weigh your relationship (this goes to your man too) on gifts. Gifts can be used to show your love, but dont make it the only quantifier of love. They say women have nice instincts....so use that to observe whether you man cares for you, even though he acts little stupid at times. Caring is the only element that will last long.

Yes it is common but it could have been a lot worse for you.
He could have played the " I'm really a great guy game" and then he turns out to be a wife beater, junkie, cheater or a psycho!

Anyway, if he plays more games in the future, tell him you won't stick around for any more.
Game Over.

I have a cunning trick which never ceases to put a smile on a woman's face. It is called giving gifts spontaneously - and when least expected - often only little gifts, but ones which raise a smile on a girl's face and show that I have been thoughtful.

No I dont think this is common. But there guys who do things like maybe because of a pass experience so they make up stuff like that, not knowing it may upset the girl they are with. They think they are just protecting themselves

i dont think its about playing tricks. i dont dont let the women that i date know that i have money until i know who she is. im not cheap by any means. i always pay and may sure that she is taken care of the way a moman should be.

he did test you but in the wrong way. he tested you to see if your a gold digger but proved himself a liar. that one is on him.

maybe your dating the wrong types of guys if that is a problem that you are continually running into!

He was probably too broke to get you a present during Christmas and needed a plan to postpone from buying you a gift. Give the gay a break. Good luck

Your man is a loser. I like to play cat and mouse games, it is all part of the chase and the fun. But the type of games you are referring to indicate someone with no respect for other people. Find you a new man, before you have a couple of years tied up with this guy.
