Because Christianity is based on ignorance and fear. Anything they don't understand or like is from the Devil or is evil!!! That's the only form of "logic" that is taught to them. So when they feel threatened they lash out in fear.

I am a christian. I am NOT calling anyone an athiest. When I see these cracks made, I just move on. I think it is a waste of my time if this person doesn't want to hear what I have to say. It says in the Bible, (don't have it in front of me at this time), If you enter into a place, a home, and they don't want to hear what you have to say, then wipe the dust off of your feet and leave. I don't think ANYone should call names. Judge not, lest thee not be judged. That go's both ways. Calling names is another waste of time. I don't believe my God, my Father in Heaven is happy with that. I am not perfect and never will I be. I am under his construction until the day I leave this earth. I believe he holds me in the palm of his hand and is constantly molding me into the person he wants me to be. I just try to be the best person I can be. Hurting other peoples feelings is not on my list of things to do. I feel we were put here to love and serve each other and it is only through the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ that I am saved. God Bless your day.

What kind of 'crack'? I would think the most venemous insults to christians would come from people of faith who find the Christians to be misguided, ie Muslims who feel a christian has missed the mark by putting Jesus above Mohammed.
But your question makes me think that a christian who automatically responds "you athiest" feels anyone who doesn't believe as they do to be spiritually bankrupt; that arrogance gets combined with ignorance and they refer to all heathens as atheists.
(i'm atheist)

A friend of mine who's christian asked a question about the contradictions in the bible - all the supportive answers were from atheists, the fundamentalists were saying she wasnt a real christian and that she was wrong, ignorant or misguided and needed to pray for forgiveness - it was most enlightening.

some people find it insulting when you call them athiest..there are some that believe in God but doesn't have a church, and sometimes its also the church's fault when they call those outsiders "unbelievers".. it kinda makes others think that xtians judge them too much..which is kinda correct because they just need to grow and fill up their personal relationship with God...you cant call an individual an athiest just because you thought he was...not unless he really said so...the church really need to keep watch of the way they treat others because they're modeling God's love for the world..and hold the name of Jesus..'cause sometimes, they could intimidate those who also wants to know Christ...fellow Christians, lets just try not pointing out the bad sides or secular sides of an individual first before they even get in church..it really intimidates them and sometimes they would hate us..collecting souls for Christ is all about being flexible with all kinds of people..

Probably because if they are insulting Christianity, they don't believe in it. While there are more options than Christian or atheist, people who make fun of the religion of others are probably not God-fearing, and most likely atheists or agnostics.

As a christian I wasn't aware of this. Since you bring it up It does seem that most of the crack givers on here are athiests or those who don't believe in a God.

Because christians are constantly attacked by atheists on here, its become the norm. Most of the nastiest attacks are toward christians by atheists, the supposedly "tolerant" group. I know, gives new meaning to the word tolerant.
