Boxers would make a lousy hunting dog.
They were not bred for hunting and they do not have the nose for it. The smashed in nose on a Boxer would make it hard for the dog to find and track scent. They do not have the prey drive like hunting dogs do. They are great dogs and one of my favorites but they are not a hunting breed
I have Weimaraners that hunt and Dobermans that can stalk something but are lousy at hunting for scent of birds.

boxers can hunt but that is not really what they are bred for.it takes a lot more training to teach them to track since that is not what they were bred for.i know of several wonderful search and rescue boxers but thier trainers had to spend a lot more time training them then they would have if they had used a hunting or sporting breed.plus, boxers are only truely happy when they are in the same place as thier people are (on the couch,in the car or out in the field).think about what kind of hunting you want to do with the dog and then pick a breed that is better suited for that type of hunting.

Boxer's are more of a family dog, not a hunting dog. Dont' get me wrong if you train them to do something they probably would do it, but I wouldn't invest in a boxer for a full time hunting buddy, I would go for a breed that was born to hunt, like hounds, beagles, etc. I have had boxer's and I don't think they hunt that great. They are just a loving dog, that likes to spend time with their owners.

Nope boxers aren't hunting dogs at all. Look into a dog in the sporting, terrier, or hound group if you want a hunting companion. Determine what exactly you want the dog to do and pick your dog from that (some dogs retreive, some point to game, some flush, some track).

No, boxers are working dog, not sporting dogs. They may hunt a little but will never be good at it.

I think a boxer is a working breed but a dog like a pointer is for hunting if u r wanting one for hunting there r specific breeds that r bread for that .If u look into it u can get a list of the breeds that r for hunting.I'm not sure I'll have to ask my mom cuz we use to show dogs and she has a boxer but I forget what breeds r for what area now.U could look up the american kennel club and they can tell u.

I suppose anything is possible, but honestly I doubt it. Boxers don't have a very good sense of smell or eyesight compared to hunting breeds. Then add to that, that they are often difficult to train because they tend to be stubborn and puppy-ish well into adulthood and your odds don't look good.

i would say not really but i used to have a boxer, and she worked great for tracking and killing coons...we always have a big problem with them getting into the feed for the horses, but that was about it for hunting

oh ya she killed alot of mice and moles too...

It depends on what kind of hunting you mean. They can be good at tracking but their short noses make them not the best choice for either hunting or tracking.
