I am in the military and we get cramps all the time. The reason for leg cramps is usually dehydration.
The best cure is drink more water or gatorraide. Some people sweat more than others and you may want to take a salt tablet with your water it helps your body hold the precious water that it needs. I have had to do this on a few occasions.
When I do get leg cramps the quickiest way I have found to help relieve them is with extra strength bengay.

depending on age and general health low potassium levels can cause screaming leg cramps. Try eating potatoes or bananas every day and if that doesn't help go get blood work done and your over all mineral levels checked. Some people have to take potassium via pills.
I have pernicious anemia and take B-12 shots but I've never noticed they had any affect on leg cramps.

Poor blood circulation may cause it too.

For me, I have cramps often when I slept with the aircon on. I tried all kinds of multivitamins and minerals but I didn't help. So I tried ginkgo. It helps.

If your cramps are severe, consult a doctor. Do not self medicate. It may have some serious underlying causes.
