I have a HUGE problem, i got male/female twin kittens for my daughter for her birthday, and I had every intention of having them fixed before any ummmm mistakes could happen, but i misjudged how long i had to do that... its too late i caught them. Im really worried , bubbles ( the female) seems too young, too small... i had no idea they mated so early. theyre under 10 months old... i guess thats almost a year, but i still see kitten, i had no idea they were near this stage.

What is the worst senerio here, i dont imagine theres anything i can do now??? :( I so didnt want this to happen. We have an adult male who is fixed, and i dont know, they seem so tiny compared to him, Are they mating early??? Im dont know if im more shocked or more bummed out, Its not that i dont love kittens, its just, im worried something could be seriously wrong, like two headed kittens.

I think im in luck, we have kept Nemo ( the male twin) inside, and oddly enough although he seems very playful, he hasnt tried to get outside, Bubbles ( the female twin) however will not stay in , and has spend verrrry much time behind the shed with a large orange cat. So i can hope like crazy that Nemo didnt get to her, and that Big Orange guy will be the daddy, Nemo is going to be fixed ASAP, and Bubbles too , as soon as the kittens are born.

if they jsut mated, you can get her spayed still for 3 weeks yet, even pregnant. Tell the vet she mated and she may be pregnant cause this could mean complications during the spay. If you plan on keeping them you dont need to worry much. Inbreeding isnt a big problem unless it continues to happen and even then you will only see weak, sickly kittens, with unusally large head, eyes and ears but not like what happens to us.

Basically, you have about two months until you have kittens. Cats start mating at about 6 months, so this is not suprising. The kitten will actually be healther than if an older cat was the mommy though... so you have that going for you. Also, it would be a good idea to nuter the male now so this doesn't happen again after birth.

It is fairly common for related cats to mate. Often there are no physical problems as a result. Most people don't realize that cats can be spayed and neutered at a very young age. Many vets will go by weight rather than age and can fix cats as small as two pounds (two pounds equals roughly two months).

What you need to do is get the male kitten neutered asap. Let the female have the kittens and let her nurse them. Then when she is done producing milk, take her to the vet and have her spayed.

Please call your vet, explain the situation, and set an appointment to take the female in to be spayed, and the male in to be neutered ASAP. At her young age, having kittens would be very hard on your little female. If you get the surgery done quickly, it won't be too hard on her, and she should recover nicely.

PLEASE don't contribute to the already overwhelming number of unwanted cats! Even if you think you can find homes for all the kittens, and can ensure that ALL of them will get good care throughout their 15-20+ year life span, each kitten you bring into the world and place will mean a kitten already in a shelter won't get a home.

My city alone euthanizes 50,000 unwanted pets a year - that's almost one pet every 10 minutes. Please don't contribute to the problem!

Very normal for animals from the same litter to mate. Happens all the time. The kittens will be just fine. At 8 to 10 months of age, domestic cats have completed most of their physical development. That's why they should be fixed at 6 months.

You can take them in both to be neutered now. Even if the female cat is pregnant, the babies will be small enough to be taken without any problems.

I had adopted a stray 6 month old kitten from by parents house. When I brought her in to be spayed, she was pregnant. The doctor took the kittens and then finished the spaying. It might cost a bit more, but it will be worth it in the long run.

They can come into heat as early as 6 months.

Probably no problem at all if it was a parent child mating more to worry about I race pigeons and we inbreed all the time and most animal husbandry requires some inbreeding sometimes it backfires but usally only after several generations of
sportfu%#@ng at family reunions so my advice would be don't worry although I wouldnt let them play banjo and if any of them have really big heads keep them away from the chainsaws, if you live in Oklahoma there is probably goverment money avaible or you can teach them to ride a bike and pick up cans !!!

Keep them apart and get your male neutered right away. My vet also told me that although a male is neutered, he can STILL impregnante a female for a few weeks after surgery because they have a gland that is not removed that sperm may be in.

You just have to wait and see. I would call the vet and ask these questions about the inbreeding. He might suggest aborting the kittens.

You could take the mamma cat to the vet and have an abortion or you can just wait...get them male fixed asap. Dont worry if you do get kittens you most likely wont get a two headed one.

the kittens will be fine. Cats mate around this time anyway. You will NOT have a two headed kitten. Cats are like kids, they grow up way too fast. you'll see. I don't think that your kittens will be retarded either as would happen if human brothers and sisters mated. Just relax and wait.
