I would recommend your local animal shetler or rescue group. I don't know anything about your area, but there should be something. Even try animal control and/or your local veternarians.

If you know what type of cat you are looking for, I might suggest that you go to www.catfancy.com and look up all the different breeders of any variety one could imagine. If possible, I would NOT go the pet store route, as all the kittens are thrown in together and one never knows whether there is a sick kitty in the mix or not. Try looking for a breeder, look in your local newspaper for someone who has a "Momma" kitty with a litter about ready for adoption, but it's best to know your people when you are looking for a cat, as they can be a great asset if you have any questions after adopting your new little friend. Good luck

Um..not sure where you live exactly, but you should think of adopting before thinking of buying, per say. There are so many orphaned/abandoned/homeless cats out there, that they could use a home first.
Try animal shelters, pounds, animal control and Humane Societies for animals if you have any. The other good thing is to check your local paper for a PetFinder option...the one I have here has got one, and they usually check pets from rescue organizations first.

Try petfinder.com.
A shelter cat needs a home more than breeders or pet stores need your money. Save a life and adopt a cat.
