I'm thinking about it a little. But I want to know what the process is?

Can anyone give me insight?

You have to say the Shadah. You have to believe it in your heart otherwise it's not valid. Say the Shadah in Arabic first: La ilaha illa ALLAH, Muhammedur rasoolu ALLAH. Then say it in English: I testify that there is no God but ALLAH and I testify that Muhammed(PBUH*) is his slave and messenger.
Then your a Muslim. You have to pray 5 times a day, give zakah to the poor, and provide upkeep for places of prayer, fast during daylight hours for one month during Ramadan, go on Hajj to Makkah at least once in your lifetime, not do drugs, have sex outside of marriage, no looking at porn, treat children, parents, and elderly with respect, take care of your parents when they get older, no eating pork and certain other foods, no drinking alcohol, no smoking, no listening to music. If your a male you need to get circumcised and attend Friday prayers in a mosque. You should also plan on learning Arabic as all prayers are required to be said in Arabic. The five prayers are: Fajr(Dawn prayer 2 units), Zhur(Noon prayer 4 units), Asr(Afternoon prayer 4 units), Maghrib(sunset prayer 3 units), and Isha(Night prayer 4 units). Zhur and Asr are done silently. Maghrib first two units are done aloud and 3rd unit is done silently, and Isha first two are done aloud and the last 2 are done silently. Fajr is done in a loud voice. Also there is no dancing allowed in Islam.

Congratulation. U already get the guidance from ALLAH - The God of Islam. If U have faith in the religion - Islam - and wanted to convert to Muslim, my message to U is U are always " Welcome. " U make a right choice by choosing the True religion -ISLAM - as your religion. Here are some of the steps U need to do to become a Muslim.
1. Be sincere to convert to Islam.
2. Get a Muslim friend to seek help from the Muslim religious council in your area.
3. Recite your kalimah syahadah - U will be taught by the Imam - religious leader before reciting the kalimah " There is no God except ALLAH and prophet Muhammad S.A.W (Pbuh) is the messenger of ALLAH.
4.Then, from this time onwards, U Will be declared as a Muslim.
5. U are cleared of all your past sins and U are clean as though as New Born child. No sin. Any sin committed after this will be considered as a new sin. As such, try not to commit any sin, if U could. Do more prayer and be a pious Muslim. Good Luck.

You have to be sure first, it is not something that is to be taken lightly. Weigh your decision carefully, and read and get as much information as possible. There can be no turning back. Once your heart is free of any doubts and you know your duties, it is very easy. You just have to say the words in Arabic "La illaha illul lah, Muhammad ur rasool Allah" (There is no God but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God). It is better to do it in the presence of a muslim, so that there is a witness and so that you don't make a mistake, or go to a mosque. Once you have declared your faith, then all obligations of being a muslim become applicable on you.

Wow, there really are still alot of ignorant people! Just because you are Islam doesn't mean you hate America, or are violent. That's like saying all black people do drugs, or all Mexicans are lazy! Wow you do know that the Islam religion is one of the worlds founding religions? Yep here before Christianity. Go to your local Mosque and talk to some one there. They can help you.
PS. Allah means God, is the word for God in Arabic. Same God different language.

This is a life changing decission. I'll tell in simple words. The only thing you do is to accept God as the only creator of everything and accept Mohammed as his prophet. This would be your first step. If you want to live religious, you can go to a local islamic center and learn how to do the ritual washing and do your prayers etc.

The first question would be, why are you thinking about it, and what are you converting from?

Apparently, the only process is for you to go down to your local mosque and say some sort of declaration that you are now a Muslim. I don't know if this has to be in the presence of any certain special people.

Bring along two of your muslim friends as the witness to your testimonial in front of thr mosque's Imam. You need to testify as follows: Ashandualailahailalah washaduana Mohamadal rasululah. Meaning: I witness that there is no God, except the Almighty, Allah and I also witness that Mohammad is the last messenger of Allah. It is just as simple and easy as that, after the testimonial, you will be declared as a Muslim.

i just want 2 clarify some things
1) You dnt have 2 go 2 an imam 2 do shahada
2) [Ashadu la illah ha illallah] means 'there is no God or diety worthy or worship apart 4rm Allah- it dont mean 'there is no god but god -- - - -this is because ppl do have their own Gods- for example a hindu would make a statue his God!
3) meet up with local practising muslims - maybe at a local mosque

Did you know that Islam believes the the "chosen' people are Arabs that came from Abraham son Ishmael? In the Bible it says Abraham had 2 son's, Isaac and Ishmael. Ishmael was from a maid and Isaac was from his wife. God tested Abraham and told him to sacrifice Isaac (God stopped him) but Islam says it was Ishmael. Now we also have the dead sea scrolls that are very old (written long before Mohammad) that say it was Isaac NOT Ishmael.

Why does this matter? The Jews came from Isaac and the Arab people and Mohammad came from Ishmael.
If they are wrong on this what else are they in error of?

After Mohammad saw his vision with the angel he went to the Jews and told them and was rejected, then to the Christians and the too rejected him, why? He was in error on many things.
Also look at the 2 web site before you make this decision.
God bless you on your search, Pray, knock and the door will be opened.

As you can see, all the ignorant Christians are slamming Islam, as if their religion is so great.

In MY opinion, all religion is false. GOD is all that matters, not fake stories that breed hatred and intolerance.

As a Native American, I dont see the logic in fighting over who is right and who is wrong. Native Peoples are spiritual, not religious.
