My girlfriend has a problem...?

She has IBS, iriitable bowel syndrome... I took her to a Thai restaurant, without thinking, and she had an accident at the theater afterwards... now she wont speak to me. I dont understand how this is my fault, especially since I had to clean up the foul smelling, beef stew looking mess off of the passenger seat of my car. It is cold here, and it was frozen into the fabric....and now she wont speak to me....what should I do??

Well ... you are not the only one to blame here. Since your girlfriend is the one with IBS, she should know by now that spicy foods are a serious no-no with that condition, so she shouldn't have eaten there. That said, it's still horribly embarassing, and she probably just needs time to get over it. You may have to have your interior professionally cleaned, also. Try being extra-sweet to her, and apologize.

first, she is totally embarrassed. If the tables were turned - how would you feel? Second, any form or oriental food has MSG in it and that will cause that reaction in 7 out of 10 people who eat it.
Now depending on how well you know this girl, get a bouquet of flowers, a movie and a pizza and eat in, where she has access to the restroom. After things have settled down, and she might be open to talk to you about it, suggest she see a Dr. as there are prescription medicines that can help her and aleviate her anxiety (which only agrivates IBS) over this reoccuring.

She is probably just too embarrassed, I am sure of this, and my wife agrees.

I too have had to clean such a mess so I feel for you. Next time you want to eat something like that. Plan on driving straight home afterwards and do not go too far from home. Do not plan to go to the theater or shopping or anything afterward.

She's more than likely embarrassed. Give her a minute. Continue to try to talk to her (i.e, small talk). Try to convey to her that you understand the feeling. In fact, you may want to talk about an embarrassing moment you may have had...maybe something you haven't told anyone. What has happened to her is quite awful, heck if I were her, I would be running from you (out of shame of course).

Explain it was an honest mistake. Things like that happen. If shes not willing to forgive you for something like this, what CAN you do? Not suggesting you dump her, but give her space. Its kind of a silly incident. She should've let you know that something like that might happen, she knows her body better than you. At least she should.

She is probably frustrated and embarrassed and angry about that, not angry at you. Reverse your positions, how would you feel if your significant other took you out for a nice date but you were not able to enjoy it even though you really wanted to. Let her cool down and then calmly talk to her.

I think she is just embarrassed. Send her some flowers to say you understand and it didn't freak you out.

If someone had shat in my car, I wouldn't be wanting a second date so you are sweet to still want to go out with her.

i think she's just sooooo ashamed.. and scared what would be your reaction. i have IBS too and i often get insecure. im even hesitant to get into a relationship because of it. i think she doesn't think it's your fault. i think she's just soooooo ashamed... you can try to secure her that nothing's change the way you see her..
