I've been with my bf for the past 6yrs.problems started after the loss of a child and his separation with his exgirlfriend.i tried to be understanding and then he totally lost his mind.he started accusing me of cheating even though he cheated he even went a step further and began spreading rumors that im aprostitute.Im an lpn making 22 dollars an hr.ive lost all my friends,no relationship with my family and things keep getting worse. He then escalated to hitting me because he believes his own lies because of his guilty conscience.im not from the u.s. and have tried to show him how women in my country are.i have a lot of morals and values but those vanished while i was with him bcuz i did everything to please him. ive lost so much weight and hes left me in the dark on my own.ive been so depressed and i just want him to realize the real me not what hes accumilated in his head about me.he is truly my other half and i dont know what to do.Please advise me.

sorry but the only thing you can do is leave him. true love doesnt accuse, lie, cheat, or hit. if your family is in the u.s. then go back to them say you need their help. it will be difficult but must be done. its not your fault he has gone through a mental breakdown. you probably have done all you can for him but when he starts to hit you its time to leave. he has no right to treat you like this. i just wish i could do more for you. do yourself a favor and walk away and make a new life for yourself before he gets worse. if you want to talk more e-mail me anytime. i wish you the best of luck.

Get away from him please. I was in a similar situation about 4 years ago. I kept thinking things would get better but they never did. I too had cut myself off from family and friends. The turning point for me happened when he threw a brush at my car's rear windshield. Soon after I left him alone and never regretted it. Your boyfriend doesn't love you like he should and you need to love yourself in order to save yourself. This relationship is not healthy. You do not need someone weighing you down with bs. I know that it is easier said than done but I really hope you get out before it is too late.

you have to realize that he doesn't love you and the longer you stay with him, the longer it will be before you find someone who loves you and cares for you. Move out and start over and you will find someone who is better for you. He probably does know the real you but that doesn't matter to him or he wouldn't be hitting you.
for more details on abuse check out http://www.ncadv.org and you can see more about violence and how to deal with that. The first time he hit you he sould have been in jail!!
