I live in Ny and its anywhere from 75 to 127 per plate. I am paying $114.00 a plate for my reception.

Probably somewhere from $40-75 per person depending on where you live. Also becareful because there is typically a minimum number of guests to get the best price per person. For example if it's $40 pp for 100 people or more and you invite 200 people, you are most likely better off with an ala carte deal because the more people that you have over the minimum, the higher the profit for the facility. The cost for come things like a room rental, dj, etc. do not vary whether you have 10 or 1000 people so you need to be careful that you aren't over paying. We are having a large wedding 150-200 people therefore we opted to arrange our own vendors. Good luck!

I live in Mass, just north of Boston. I am paying about $45.50 per person before taxes for all of what you mentioned here, plus two drink fountains. For me, taxes are 5% and 18% on the total. But you have to figure out what it is in your area. Also, each venue is different with what they provide. The place I'm having the reception includes all of this, with an extra $300 if you want an actual wedding ceremony in the gardens. (Use of the gardens is included, only if you have a wedding ceremony is it extra, because there's more set up/breakdown) Some places say you have to pay extra for cake cutting, etc. Check out each, including the fine print. It would depend on the location (facility and state) and whether you've got good negotiating skills.

My husband and I paid $45 per person for all you've listed plus all taxes and gratuities. They even provided the cake (which was excellent!). I dropped names when I first met with the coordinator at the facility. My company had used this country club for a luncheon a couple months prior and a girlfriend of mine also had her reception there. So I had 2 references to go by.

If you know how much you want to spend for everything break it down on how much you'd like to spend, ideally, per person. Go low and see if the facility is willing to match. You'd be surprised how many places are willing to work with you if you have a number in mind.

That depends a great deal on your location. I am in The Middle of Illinois. For an average of 150 people the price is generally around $6000 - $9000 for the entire reception.

However one way to cut your cost is by having someone you know cut your cake and then set it on a table so they can pick it up if they desire. Usually you are charged anywhere from $1.50 to $3.00 a person for your caterer to do this.

If you are smart, have a small family wedding at the church, then invite a specific number of close friends for a buffet party, later that day or on another date.

Spend big money on your life, not one day.

The last wedding we went to they spent $78.00 a head at a large hotel. They spent $7800.00 for a bombed reception and a ghastly band. This was in Tampa Florida.

Stop and consider you could be paying for this long after the marriage is over, that is based on how long they last these days.

well the easiest way is to add up total cost and divide by every single person attending ....lets say you get a figure of 50 add an additional 10 bucks for profit

have you considered giving them a dollar figure you can live with and then them telling you what you can get for that price? Might be a good place to start.
