I have a dog (german shepherd), who barks so loud (sleeps inside house) at night when the neighbour's cats (two of them!!) do their nightly toilet stop in my backyard. What can I do to stop them coming into my backyard? My dog sleeping outside is not an option. Also I don't want to scatter stuff that my dog could accidentally eat.

Sprinkle some red pepper where they go most often. That will not harm them but they will never go back there.

You may have to spend a few nights up for this to take effect, but turn off your lights and watch to see when these cats come into your yard. Then, let your dog out. Your dog is going to chase the cats out of the yard. I usually would NOT condone this type of action but---cats are FAST! They can see better in the dark and can get out of the dogs way. If you do this a couple nights in a row, the cats are going to get the idea that this is NOT a real safe place to do their business, and they will go elsewhere. Plus, if you know who owns the cats, you might speak to them about keeping their cats indoors where they belong and where they are safe.

you would possibly want to, yet you would possibly want to wish firstly asking your neighbor in the adventure that they are those throwing food on your backyard. in the adventure that they think that you think that they are those doing it, then they might end. If it retains when you communicate with them, i might want to surely placed the food in a bag and call the police. i do not recognize in the adventure that they are going to bypass all CSI on the bag and attempt it for poisons (probable prices various $$), yet they are going to a minimum of be attentive to the topic matters you're having if the neighbor comes to a call to make issues extra extreme. Is there a fashion that you may keep the dogs remote from that area of the backyard? it would want to probable be maximum acceptable for his or her safe practices!

We have found to keep cats out of the yard throw banana skins where you don't want them to go as they hate the skins and they don't hurt dogs it works for us as we have an open garage and put them round the car no more cat paws on our car.

Please don't even consider scattering anything, whether you're afraid that your dog will eat it or not.
The cats might eat it, and it could kill them too.

This isn't the fault of the cats, it's the fault of your neighbor for leaving the cats outside.
There is NO good reason why a cat needs to EVER go outside.

I would calmly talk to your neighboor and explain what's going on and ask them to please be responsible pet owner and keep their cats inside where they belong.
