I'm a Hypnotist. Hypnosis is an extremely relaxing experience. I am often told jokingly by clients that they don’t know if they can drive after a session.
To answer your question Hypnosis can't erase a bad experience but it can help to reprogram the way your subconscious views that experience. In fact that is what a Hypnotist (Good ones who know what they are doing) does to help people overcome what ever it is they are trying to do.
For instance I am currently working with some who has PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). My goal is not to erase the memory of what happened, but to help that person view that situation in a different manner. It's known as reframing. Fears (Phobias) are another case of this. There are many techniques for doing this but I won't go into them here.
I could ramble on forever about this but I would advise you to do your own research and be careful not to believe all the old myths about Hypnosis, god knows there are mountains of them. Make sure you find a competent Hypnotist. I suggest checking multiple sources such as the www.NGH.com (National guild of Hypnotist), www.SAH.com (Society of Applied Hypnosis). BEWARE of the Hypnotist that tells you he or she fix all of your trouble in one hour with a money back guarantee. Also when you meet the hypnotist and your not comfortable, find another. It's very important to the whole process of hypnosis that you are comfortable with the hypnotist. Please feel free to email me if you want to discuss more off here.

When I was in high school, I was hypnotized along with a few others in my class. I don't remember why we were learning about hypnosis, but it was an interesting experience.
I remember some discussion about how deep one goes into hypnosis depends on how much one puts one's trust in the hypnotist. That was comforting to me. I had the choice in how far under I could go. Plus, I was in a room with a lot of people I grew up with and trusted. This gave me further comfort and allowed me to put my trust into the circumstance, to become hypnotized.
I felt very much like myself throughout the session. But when I reflected back on it, I realized that I hadn't felt pain when I should have, my arms weren't exhausted when they should have been, and I was so focused that I didn't hear the piercingly loud bell that signaled the end of class.
It was a pleasant and interesting experience.
That's about all I can remember. It's been a long time since I was in high school. My 20-year reunion is next year.

Many years ago I was regressed for a Scottish newspaper, whilst under hypnosis the best way to describe the feelings I felt was,
if you close your eyes whilst sitting in the sun you can feel the sun on your face and feel very relaxed, I was aware of what was going on around, and when the hypnotist brought me back to reality I had this feeling of well being and could remember everything that had gone on in the session.
I don't think they can erase a memory.

yes - at a show. I am usually a shy person and I stood on the stage in front of 500 people and was a "headmistress" shouting at the school (audience)for writing graffiti all over the wall.
I think if you have had a bad experience you should not erase it. You need to confront it and talk about it and get it out of your system.....

I got the professional training of hypnosis for 6 years. Well, i must say it's not a healty way to treat your mind, must only be used in extreme conditions, if there is no way else than it.
and yes you can erase bad memories from your memory and even , if you work systematically you can convince everyone to make everything you want.

Yes, I have been hypnotized many times. It makes you feel relaxed and keeps your subconscious mind open. It cannot erase a bad experience. BUT it can better help you understand it and deal with things better. Hypnotherapy helps if you want therapy and ways to cope with stress.
