Should the hyoid bone move and click? when pressed from the side?

The multiple areas of cartilage and bone in the front of the neck will click and grind in moved from side to side. This includes the thyroid cartilage (adam's apple)

Yes, very common. Incidentally, did you know that the hyoid bone is the only bone in the human body that does not articulate with another bone??
