If you see a vehicle on the public road that appears to be untaxed, you can report it online, by telephone or by post. Your report will be investigated and the appropriate enforcement action taken if required.
The enforcement action of the police and DVLA against vehicle tax dodgers makes a significant contribution to road safety. About a third of motorists reported for evading paying vehicle tax are committing other offences - including no MOT certificate, no insurance and defective tyres. During 2003/04, 978,000 cases of vehicle tax evasion were successfully completed resulting in the recovery of around £114 million.
How you can help
To report a vehicle that appears to be untaxed, you will need to provide the following details. You can make your report anonymously if you wish.
the registration mark of the vehicle
location of the vehicle (eg outside 24 Anystreet, Anytown, E7)
the make, model and colour of the vehicle
Wherever possible, please provide:
the time the vehicle can be seen on the public road
name and address of the owner
What happens to your report
The information you provide can then be used for further investigations by an enforcement field officer, who will make a formal sighting of the vehicle and complete a witness statement. The appropriate enforcement action will be taken if required.

This is more common than you think, and even if he is never stopped by the police and ticketed...he will get his. Trust me when I say, his lisence is now suspended....for a long time. This means he will not be able to fix his situation for a long time. These things catch up with people. The system is set up that way. If anything, I would let him know he is screwing his future up by doing this...but "telling on him," won't make a difference one way or another. If he gets stopped, he will get ticketed and towed, or he may get lucky. If he is a fast talker, a cop may not waste his time. Don't waste yours. If he has an accident, he is really screwed, this is a misdimeanor...it could become a felony situation if he is not careful.

I would anon report him to the police - all us law abiding drivers have to pay for idiots like this. We all make mistakes/forget but I think even the most absent minded of divers would have remembered in 2 years!! If they are not MOTing it are they maintaining it at all, it could be a death trap?
Those of you who think sit back and do nothing how would you feel if this car hit yours (or worse still a child)? Shop them asap and leave it to the police to deal with.

Report him, anonymously if you prefer, to the police, the local council, or the DVLA. You'll be doing the right thing.

Report him! Really annoys me as i pay for my mot tax and insurance when its due. Worst thing is if he hits a innocent legal person and then gets away with it!

You need to report him, but do it anonymously, we all have to pay tax and insurance so why can't he! It's wrong and he's braking the law.

Do nothing and he runs a child over or hurts someone and could you live with that on your conscience!
He shouldn't be on the road!
