It's about 20 miles and the most direct way to go is on the A404 towards Marlow, then the M4 towards Reading. If you're travelling during rush hour times, I'd avoid the M4 and go on the A4 instead. It's not as main a road, but it'll be less busy.
I'd advise you to have a map of Reading handy, or know exactly where in Reading you're going, as the one-way systems can screw you up if you're not sure of your directions. Hope that helps.

By road, it's around 24.5 miles.
By train, around 50.75, as you have to go via South Ruislip, Greenford (on the tube) and West Ealing, as the more direct route from Wycombe to Maidenhead via Bourne End closed in 1971.
