I have 3 on my top lip! lol
I put some ZOVIRAX on them as soon as they appeared, and the cream has already stopped them from getting worse. They are drying up and don't look as bad now.
Unfortunately you can only get Zovirax on prescription here in the US.( I made sure I brought some over from UK.)
So for a quick fix if you can't get to a doc, maybe try one of the other creams suggested above.
When I was younger I used to put after shave/perfume on them, they seemed to dry up quick but I did stink for a while LOL

Go buy some coldsore cream from the chemist if you get it early enough it really works, its pricy but worth it!
For a quick fix, you can put an ice cube on it (b sure to try keep it dry) for as long as you can stand it, the longer the better but you have to get it early as well.
Your body produces coldsores when your immune system is down, if you can keep up with a good diet you get them so much.

HI there... I am a firm believer of "Denavir". It is thru prescription only. You put it on the cold sore @ the very 1st sign of it & it will lessen the..."Ugliness" if I may. (once it erupts that is) :) If you already HAVE the cold sore...then the denavir will "Hurry" the healing process. Hopefully you have a Dr who can prescribe this for you? If not...then I am sorrie to say that I have NO CLUE as to an "Over The Counter" healer? It also TOTALLY (for me) relieves the Pain associated with cold sores...which is actually the lowest form of "Herpes". I, along W/ most of the population, get these when the weather changes. (hot 2 cold & vise versa) Here is more reading on the subject. GL 2 U & HAVE A GR8 DAY!!!!!!! This drug is used in certain patients to treat outbreaks of herpes simplex on lips and skin of the face (cold sores). The virus that causes this infection lives in the body quietly until an outbreak is triggered. Penciclovir is not a cure for the infection, but treatment of an outbreak can speed up healing of the sores and decrease pain. How to use Denavir Top Wash hands with soap and water before applying this medication. Apply a layer of penciclovir cream to cover only the area of the cold sore or the area of tingling/itching/redness/swelling at the first signs of symptoms. Apply the cream every 2 hours while awake for 4 days or as directed by your doctor. After each application, do not touch any other part of your body or another person's body until you have washed your hands again with soap and water. Touching the body without washing the hands may lead to spreading of the virus to a new area or another person. Avoid use in or near the eyes since this medication can irritate the eyes. It is very important to continue using this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. This medication works best when the amount of drug the skin receives stays at a constant level. Therefore, use this drug at evenly spaced intervals. To help you remember, use it at the same times each day. Do not use more or less of this drug than prescribed or stop using it even for a short time unless directed to do so by your doctor. Skipping or changing your dose without approval from your doctor may decrease the effectiveness of the drug.

All cold sores are Herpes. Herpes Simplex 1 symptoms can be eased a bit by Carmex or a similar product. You can buy this over the counter at any drug store or WalMart.
You must never kiss anyone when you have the Herpes virus. As soon as you feel the onset of symptoms, keep your hands away from your mouth (wash hands frequently) and keep your mouth off of other people. Herpes is highly contagious!

If you are in the UK you could try the new Compeed clear patches which help relieve and cure cold sores. My mother always swore on perfume to dry out the cold sore. You could also try using methylated spirits too as that will dry them out. Put a tiny bit on a cotton bud and dab it over the cold sore every hour or so.

Hepres virus - treat with Zovirax or RhusTox, which is a homeopathic remedy; avoid the temptation for a good snog whilst you are infected.

That sucks - I'm sorry. If you have quick access to a doctor, ask for a prescription. What about those commercials for Abreva - I think that's in the supermarket.

Most likely it itches. If you cover it up it will spread. What I do is take peroxide and rub it until it bleeds and keep doing this until it dries up .I hope it will be dried up by this weekend but it usually takes a week before its healed I will pray for you.
