I am fed up of rummaging through the cupboards and fridge wondering what to feed the kids.
I am planning on setting up a daily meal planner for all of us but just wondering if anyone as any healthy ideas for all the family to enjoy.

Thanks

Pasta is usually a winner - even with kids! You can do pretty much anything with it too and can certainly disguise vegetables in the sauce! Another one is a mince dish - make meatballs, spag bol, tacos etc. Pizza - they don't have to be unhealthy you know. Hide fruit and veg in things - smoothies are a great way to get kids eating fruit without even realising it. Try easy and quick recipes rather than spending ages cooking each evening. Remember you can cook in bulk and freeze lots of food... You could also try to encourage the kids to help you - they might appreciate the food more that way.

I don't understand this thing about kids' meals. My kids ate the same as my husband and I once they'd got teeth. I'm amazed at all the suggestions for spag. bol. Veg and or salad, meat or fish. Balanced and healthy. Finish with fruit salad, or better still just a portion of fruit, that way you can vary it - bananas on Monday, apples on Tuesday etc.
I put the food on the table in bowls. They took what they wanted. If it was something unfamiliar then they took a little and if they liked it, they could always come back for more. Once they had put food on their plate they had to eat it. My younger daughter, who is now 34 recently said that she was very grateful for this because now she is not a 'fussy' eater and will at least try a little of anything she's presented with.

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

before shopping i write out menu for week that everyone will eat and few snack items when someone is hungry normally beans or some soups .
cereal i need i find everyone eats cornflakes or rice kyrispies then for lunch tuna etc
meals everyone would eat that chicken ,pork ,bolognaise .
served with potatos and veg .
I buy veg the kids will eat and introduce new veg that we all try and if we like i buy again .
some examples i would make is spaghetti bolonaise i got longer spaghetti and the kids started eating this as they thought it was fun to suck up and now love it i make my fresh and it really isnt hard to do even preparing night beofre i find makes it taste even better.
meat and potato and veg
fish and beans with potato
i also sometimes do make your own sandwich i have lettuce tomato tuna ,ham ,anything i have that go into sandwich and the whole lot of us fill up the bread with whatever we want its fun .
my 13 yr old has had a ham ,lettuce ,tomato ,brown sauce banana sandwich !! and thought it was lovely lol

Less Crisps biscuits more fruit we now have no fizzy drinks in the house a protest at first but now no moans they get sugar free juice and more fruit .
oh an d if you write a menu out for every shop you will be amazed at money you actually can save as i stick to it may be with a few treats which i allow for on the budget.

There's loads of quick and easy ideas that don't take long and don't cost the earth and are healthy at the same time:

Spaghetti bolognaise
Filled jacket potatoes with salad and cooked chicken
Pasta with a tomato and vegetable based sauce
Fajitas with stir fried peppers, mushrooms and onions
Shepherds pie with veg
Fishcakes with new potatoes and veg

For a treat you can do home-made pizzas. You can either make or buy the bases and then use a tomato sauce and add loads of veg such as peppers, mushrooms, onions, sweetcorn, and some light mozzarella. Serve it with a salad and some coleslaw. A healthy version of a take-away!

I do a weekly meal plan, that way I know exactly what I need from the supermarket and don't end up buying a load of rubbish and don't spend extra money I shouldn't.

just serve healthy items in a more creative fashion. Like cutting a waffle in to 5 slices (like slices of a pizza) then turn them around to make a star shape. Then add strawberries, blueberries, bananas, lite whipped cream, powdered sugar, or whatever you prefer as a topping (but mostly fruit is healthier of course). Fruit or veggies added in a simple yet cute way make all meals more appealing.

Spag Bol

Chicken Chips n Peas

Cottage Pie

Beans On Toast

Mild Currys

Roast Dinners

All these you can add veg to them and hide the tastes, dont worry too much about the fat issues to start as nutrition is more important right now!

I always try to make a dish for my two kids with hidden vegies, like
Stir-fry chicken, I use about 6 different vegies so its colorful and serve it just with boiled rice.
Spaghetti bol, with hidden vegies like grated carrot, celery and zucchini.
Goulash or stew again with lots of hidden vegies and served with mashed potatoe.
Soft tacos, this is the best, beacuse they have fun loading it up with as much salad as they can.

Good luck..................
